How long has 2020 Flooring Solutions been in business?

We have been serving the DMV area for over 20 years. Our experience means we understand local building codes, climate considerations, and what flooring works best in homes throughout the region.

Installation

How long does flooring installation typically take?

Installation timelines vary by flooring type and project size. A standard room (200-300 sq ft) typically takes 1-2 days for hardwood or luxury vinyl, 1 day for carpet, and 2-3 days for tile. Whole-home projects usually take 3-7 days. We provide detailed timelines during your free in-home estimate.

Do I need to move my furniture before installation?

We handle furniture moving as part of our installation service. Our team will carefully move furniture within the same room at no additional charge. For large or specialty items (pianos, safes, etc.), we recommend coordinating with a professional mover.

What happens to my old flooring?

Removal and disposal of old flooring is included in our installation quotes. We carefully remove existing flooring, inspect the subfloor for any issues, and dispose of old materials responsibly.

Do you install on weekends or evenings?

Yes, we offer flexible scheduling including Saturday installations. For commercial projects, we provide after-hours and weekend installation to minimize disruption to your business operations.

What subfloor preparation is needed?

Our installers assess your subfloor condition during the estimate. Preparation may include leveling, moisture testing, crack repair, or applying a moisture barrier. All preparation work is included in your quote so there are no surprise charges.

Materials

What flooring brands do you carry?

We are authorized dealers for top brands including Shaw, Mohawk, COREtec, Armstrong, Bruce, Mannington, Karastan, and many more. As authorized dealers, we offer premium products at competitive wholesale pricing.

What is the difference between solid and engineered hardwood?

Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood and can be refinished multiple times. Engineered hardwood has a real wood veneer over layered plywood, making it more stable in humid environments and suitable for basements. Both offer beautiful, authentic wood flooring.

Is luxury vinyl plank waterproof?

Yes, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) is 100% waterproof, making it an excellent choice for kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and laundry rooms. Modern LVP closely replicates the look and texture of real hardwood and stone at a fraction of the cost.

Can I see samples before deciding?

Of course. We bring samples directly to your home during your free estimate so you can see how different flooring options look in your actual lighting and decor. You can also visit our Bethesda showroom to browse our full selection.

What flooring is best for pets?

For pet owners, we recommend luxury vinyl plank (scratch and water resistant), tile (durable and easy to clean), or engineered hardwood with a strong finish. We can help you select pet-friendly options that balance durability with style.

Pricing

How much does flooring installation cost?

Costs vary based on flooring type, room size, and subfloor condition. On average, hardwood runs $8-15 per sq ft installed, luxury vinyl $6-12, carpet $4-10, and tile $10-20. We provide detailed, all-inclusive quotes during your free estimate with no hidden fees.

What is included in your installation price?

Our all-inclusive pricing covers materials, professional installation labor, furniture moving (within same room), old flooring removal and disposal, subfloor preparation, transitions and trim, and post-installation cleanup. The price we quote is the price you pay.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, we offer several financing options including 0% APR for 12 months on qualifying purchases. We also accept all major credit cards. Visit our financing page or ask your estimator for details on available payment plans.

Do you price match?

We are confident in our competitive pricing as authorized dealers for major brands. If you receive a lower quote from another licensed, insured contractor for the same product and scope of work, let us know and we will do our best to match or beat it.

Maintenance

How do I maintain my new hardwood floors?

Sweep or vacuum regularly (use a soft-bristle attachment), clean with a manufacturer-recommended hardwood cleaner, use felt pads under furniture legs, maintain consistent humidity levels (35-55%), and avoid excessive water. We provide detailed care instructions with every installation.

How often should hardwood floors be refinished?

Solid hardwood floors typically need refinishing every 7-10 years depending on traffic and wear. Engineered hardwood can be refinished 1-3 times depending on the veneer thickness. We offer professional refinishing services with dustless sanding technology.

How do I clean luxury vinyl plank flooring?

LVP is one of the easiest floors to maintain. Sweep or vacuum regularly and mop with a damp mop and mild cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners or steam mops. LVP is waterproof and stain-resistant, making it ideal for busy households.

Do you provide a warranty on your work?

All 2020 Flooring Solutions installations come with our 2-year labor warranty, in addition to manufacturer warranties on materials which typically range from 10 years to lifetime. If anything is not right, we will come back and fix it at no charge.
