When should flooring be installed during new construction?
Flooring is typically one of the last items installed — after painting, HVAC, and plumbing are complete but before final trim and fixtures. The space should be climate-controlled for at least 2 weeks before hardwood installation. We coordinate with your builder on timing.
Do you work with builders and general contractors?
Yes, we have established relationships with many DMV builders and GCs. We provide builder pricing, coordinate scheduling with other trades, and can handle multiple units or phases. We're familiar with the permitting and inspection requirements across MD, DC, and VA.
Can I choose different flooring for different rooms?
Absolutely — this is standard for new construction. We typically recommend hardwood for main living areas, tile for bathrooms and entryways, carpet for bedrooms, and LVP for basements and utility rooms. We help you select coordinating options.
How do I budget for flooring in a new construction project?
Budget 6–10% of total construction cost for flooring. For a typical DMV new-build, plan $15,000–$40,000 for quality flooring throughout. Builder-grade allowances are often low — upgrading at construction time is much cheaper than replacing later.
